Strengthening the Country’s Population Research with the 15th National Call by NIMAD

The National Institute for Medical Research Development of Iran (NIMAD), in its latest effort to foster problem-oriented research, has announced the 15th round of its Request for Proposal (RFP-based) grants, with a special focus on “large-scale population studies.”

Dr. Farjam, Secretary of the Steering Committee for Large-Scale Population Studies, announced the news, stating: “In this round of NIMAD calls, two strategic axes—‘large-scale population studies’ and ‘strengthening national health data infrastructure’—have been prioritized.”

Moving Toward Health Data Governance

Explaining that these calls are designed to support applied research projects and improve the health data governance system, Dr. Farjam added: “Our main goal is to create the foundation for producing precise scientific evidence, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and ultimately enhancing the quality of population studies in the country, so that we can best address the needs of the health system.”

Utilizing National Assets for Evidence-Based Policy-Making

In another part of his statement, the Secretary of the Steering Committee pointed to the high potential of the country’s databases and remarked: “Data derived from large-scale population studies, disease registries, and health outcome registries provide a valuable asset for researchers. Targeted support for data-driven projects, while facilitating researcher access, will play a key role in strengthening decision-making and evidence-based policy-making in the health sector.”
