determination the prevalence and incidence of common diseases and their risk factors among SUMS employees -determination the relationship between demographic characteristics, socioeconomic factors, anthropometric indices, occupational stress, nutrition, lifestyle, exposure to air pollution, genetic factors and cancers, cardiovascular diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, digestive diseases, respiratory diseases, psychiatric disorders, endocrine and metabolic diseases, accident-related injuries, absence from work and job performance

The employees of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences

10,000 employees (employed in Shiraz) Sampling method: All the employees meeting the inclusion criteria

Data were collected through interviews and completion of questionnaires, clinical examination, anthropometry, and biochemical measurements of blood serum, hair, nails and urine and the storage of specimens is also done in the study center.

An annual follow-up phone call, and in-person comprehensive evaluations every 5 years

1- Blood sample: CBC, Fasting Blood Glucose, HDL and LDL Lipids), Triglycerides and Cholesterol, Urea, Creatinine, Liver Enzymes, SGOT, SGPT. 2- Urine sample (U/A). 3- Hair and nail samples. 4- Anthropometric measurements. 5- Body analysis (using Body composition analyzer). 6- Clinical assessment: Blood Pressure, ECG, Pregnancy History, Records of Common Chronic Diseases (Physical, Psychological, Pharmacological Treatment), Family Medical History, Prescribed Drugs, Oral and Dental Examinations, Physical Examinations . 7- Mental health Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Depression Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Job Content, Occupational Health and Performance Measurement, Social Capital of the Workplace, Stress Assessment, Sleep Quality, Satisfaction with Different Dimensions of Life, Continuous Stressors, Quality of Life, Aggression. 8- General Interview including: Socioeconomic Status, Work History, Fuels Used in Daily Life, Lifestyle, Cell Phone Use, Poisons and Pesticides, Physical Activity, Sleep Habits, 9- Nutrition status including: A) Feed Frequency , B) Eating habits, C) Food supplements. 10- Optometry examination including: Comprehensive eye & vision examination (Eye Pressure Testing, Slit-Lamp Exam, Retinal Examination)

The main phase of the project is currently being implemented in this center. With an average of 18 daily admissions, 2000 people (53% women and 47% men) have participated in the project so far. The expected outcomes of this project include obtaining follow-up data on the prevalence and incidence rate of non-communicable diseases caused by occupational and non-occupational risk factors. The prevalence and incidence rate of overweight, obesity, excessive obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and diabetes have been followed up. As the first anniversary date of the activity of this center approaches, the first stage of the annual follow-up phone calls will soon begin.
