determination the prevalence and incidence of non-communicable diseases and the association between different exposures and outcomes among SUMS employees.

About 10000 employees of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences with the age range of 20 to 70 years old.

10,000 employees (employed in Shiraz) Sampling method: All the employees meeting the inclusion criteria

 

Invitation

All individuals were invited for interviews and medical examinations to the cohort study center and the field supervisor first familiarized them with the study objectives then they were asked to sign a written consent to start the procedure

Blood sampling

Blood samples were drawn after 10-12 hours of fasting.

Body analysis

body analysis is  done in durity of fasting time, by inbody 770

Interview

Each interview was conducted by means of a structured questionnaire such as  demographic  (  personal, educational, occupational, and residential details), food frequency, food habits, disease history, family disease history, psychological disorders )such as: anxiety, obsessive-compulsive  and depressive disorders

Medical examination

In this stage, trained technicians collected data on the medical history, blood pressure, peripheral pulse and obtained anthropometrical data such as height, weight, hip, and waist sizes Also ECG is taken for them

CBC, FBS, TG, CHOL, HDL, LDL, BUN, Cr, ALT, AST, GGT, ALPH  is perform

Bio-Bank

The storage of specimens such as blood (whole blood, serum, Buffy coat, plasma), hair, nails and urine is also done in the study center.

 

 

 

An annual follow-up phone call, and in-person comprehensive evaluations every 5 years, to update information on health status and its determinants

Demographic and socioeconomic characteristics, lifestyle pattern, fuel and pesticide exposures, occupational history and hazards, personal and familial medical history, medication profile, oral hygiene, reproduction history, dietary intake, and psychological conditions, Anthropometric measurements, optometry exam, electrocardiogram and measurement of biochemical parameters of NCDs and NCD-related morbidity and mortality.
