Goals
To reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events by at least 20% in high-risk individuals
Study population
All rural residents >45 years old from 6 Medical Universities
Sampling method and sample size
Random cluster sampling; Recruiting 30000 individuals in two clusters
Data Collection
Interview, self-administered questionnaire, physical exam, biochemical measurements
Follow up Methods
– Active fallow-up every 6 months to repeat all measurements.
– Active follow up 6 months for hospitalized events and death.
Main Exposures
Demographic, behavioral (e.g. nutrition, physical activity and smoking), medical history, biological (e.g. anthropometric, blood pressure, pulse rate), biochemical (e.g. FPG, lipids)
